Student Leadership
At Brentwood Secondary College students can apply for numerous positions that develop and nurture their leadership skills.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) is an important forum for students to participate in the decision making of the College. There are representatives from each year level as members of the SRC. Two members of the SRC are elected to School Council and attend these meetings to report on the SRC’s activities and provide a student voice to any decisions being made by the College. The SRC meets every week during lunchtime to discuss issues and ideas to bring to the College Executive or School Council.
School Captains
Each year four School Captains are appointed to represent the entire student community. Our 2024 School Captains are Aimee Booth, Madison Ferris, Anton Jusayan and Hibah Suriya.
House captains
There is one student per House appointed at each Year Level as House Captain and two students at Year 12 representing each House and are given the opportunity to take ownership of and lead house events.
Peer Support Program
Year 10 and 11 students can apply to be part of the Peer Support Program. This program helps student leaders to develop their leadership skills and become role models for Year 7 students. The Peer Support Program is designed to provide Year 7 students with a supportive learning environment to develop resilience and connectedness to the school. All the Year 7 classes have peer support leaders who support them in the transition at Brentwood.
School for Student Leadership
Each year approximately four Year 9 students have the opportunity to attend the School for Student Leadership for the term where they will develop their interpersonal skills and leadership skills while off campus.
Students can also apply for the following positions to represent the College in their respective disciplines;
- Debating Captain
